Dmytro Choni was born in Kiev (Ukraine) in 1993, and received his first piano lessons from Galina Zaslavets at the age of four. Later, he went on to study in Kiev with Nina Naiditch and Professor Yuri Kot. He is currently studying with Professor Milana Chernyavska at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. The young pianist also receives a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, and regularly participates in the intensive music weeks and other activities held there. He has attended masterclasses held by renowned professors, such as Arie Vardi, Sergei Babayan, Pavel Gililov, Klaus Hellwig, Grigory Gruzman, Aquiles Delle Vigne and Yakov Kasman.

As a prize-winner at numerous prestigious competitions, Dmytro Choni has already made a name for himself on the international stage. In January 2019 he won the 1st prize at the "Bösendorfer USASU International Piano Competition" in the USA. In 2018 he was awarded first prize at the world-famous "XIX Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition" in Spain as well as at the "Los Angeles International Piano Competition" in the USA and received the "ZF Music Prize" in Germany (1st prize and audience prize). In autumn 2017, Dmytro Choni won the prestigious "Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Prize", which was awarded to him as part of the Piano Academy Eppan. In addition, he is the winner of the international piano competition "Ferruccio Busoni" (Italy, 2017), the international piano competition "In Memory of Vladimir Horowitz" (Ukraine, 2017), the "International Suzhou Piano Competition" (2nd prize, China, 2017), the "San Marino Piano Competition" (2nd Prize, San Marino, 2016), the International Piano Competition "Roma" (1st Prize, Italy, 2017), the International Piano Competition of the City of San Sebastian (1st Prize, Spain, 2017), the "International Piano Competition Tucumán" (1st prize, Argentina, 2016), the international piano competition "Stefano Marizza" (1st prize, Italy, 2016) and the "Concours International de Piano - Ville de Gagny" (1st prize and Grand Prix, France, 2013).

The young pianist has already given a considerable number of solo recitals and chamber music concerts, and performs regularly as a soloist with renowned orchestras, such as the Republic of San Marino Symphony Orchestra, the ENSEMBLE ESPERANZA, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, the Ukraine National Symphony Orchestra, the VaraĹždin Chamber Orchestra and the Orquestra Simfonica del Valles. He worked with conductors such as Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, Francesco Ommassini, Alain Paris, Rubén Gimeno, Volodymyr Sirenko and Vitaliy Protasov. Dmytro Choni has performed at the “Kissinger Sommer” in Germany, at the Festival Internacional de Santander in Spain, at the VP Bank Classic Festival in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland (formerly FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION) at Harmonie Starego Miasta in Poland and at the International Festival Kyiv Summer Music Evenings in Ukraine. His performances at the Teatro Colón in Argentina and at the renowned “Kissinger KlavierOlymp” in Germany have made a lasting impression on his musical development. Chamber music also forms an important part of Dmytro Choi’s musical activities. He has performed at chamber music festivals such as Colluvio in Austria and Zeist Music Days in the Netherlands, where he profited from musical input from renowned musicians such as Adrian Brendel, Marc Danel and members of the Jerusalem Quartet. He has already collaborated with well-known musicians, including the Cuarteto Quiroga and the Quartetto di Cremona, as well as the violinists Andrej Bielow and Orest Smovzh.
